Ngamba Chimpanzee Tour!

\r\nDepart for the sanctuary after breakfast with you English speaking driver guide at 7.00am so that you can catch up with the 9.00 O`clock speed boat at the  dock in Entebbe .Ngamba Island is approximately 45-50 minutes ride by a speed boat and a traditional motorized canoe takes approximately 1 ½ – 2 hours’ time. The driver will stay in Entebbe and wait for you until you will return in the evening.\r\n\r\nThe Island is located approximately 23km off the shores of Entebbe. The 100 acre natural habitat was created as a safe haven for orphaned Chimpanzee.  Ngamba Island was officially opened to visitors in October 1999 and is currently home to 40 orphaned chimpanzees as well as home to a variety of plants and tree species, wild water and forest bird species, beautiful but unique reptile species such as snakes and lizard varieties plus a beautiful lake scenery to give you great photographic moments and great safari memories.\r\n\r\nOn arrival at the sanctuary, you will be directed to the visitor’s center where you will be given an introduction to the project, its history, the residents and their plight. On each of the two types of day visits (half day and full day), you will receive an educational orientation by a chimpanzee caregiver and view a feeding of the chimpanzees (full day visitors will view 2 feedings) from the visitors’ raised platform area along the edge of the sanctuary fence.\r\n\r\nThose on the full day excursion will enjoy lunch, at an optional extra fee.   Day visitors to the sanctuary at Ngamba Island are no longer permitted to bring packed lunches and drinks with them to the island. Prompted by the difficulty of controlling the litter associated with the personal items, the ban seeks to enforce Chimpanzee Trust’s Environmental Management Policy and System.\r\n\r\nActivities.\r\n
